Yeovil Hospital has been announced as the deserving winner of the Best International Recruitment Experience category at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards 2019 last week.
On Wednesday 25 September, Nursing Times brought together 500 senior nurses and staff from across the health and care community.
During the day, the summit highlighted important discussions and showcased innovations in workforce planning and management, contributing to future conversations towards sustaining a workforce fit for the future.
In the evening, finalists attended a glittering awards ceremony, which covered 14 categories recognising organisations going above and beyond to recruit and retain their nursing workforce. It was a fantastic night of celebration, with deserving winners from across the UK.
Following a rigorous judging process, Yeovil Hospital emerged as the winner of the Best International Recruitment Experience Award for their successful work in recruiting nurses from overseas for their own hospital and other NHS Trust.
Making their award, the judges said: “Yeovil have shown excellent outcomes with zero vacancies and reduced agency spend. We were also really impressed at the spread of this project and the evidence of a very inclusive approach to the recruitment and strategy proves its sustainability”.
Editor of Nursing Times and the host of the awards, Steve Ford said:
“Our Workforce Awards promote innovation and excellence across the broad spectrum of practice affecting nursing and healthcare staff, be it nurturing and supporting existing employees to attracting new ones. We want to celebrate organisations and individuals who are pioneering new approaches to recruiting or retaining staff, and simply having amazing results from the initiatives they are doing.
“We are featuring the great work being done across 14 categories. These include awards targeted at individual excellence such as the Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the Year and Nurse Manager of
the Year. For organisations and teams, we have Workforce Team of the Year, Best Recruitment Experience and Best Place to Work for Employee Satisfaction, to name but three.
“Congratulations to all our finalists. I expect the rest of the health and care sector to sit up and take notice of what they are doing. Learning from and sharing with each other is so important.”
