Photographer Sam Rose shares stunning rewilding exhibition for staff and patients at Yeovil Hospital.
The concept of rewilding is taking the UK by storm, but, despite the publicity and soundbites, many people are still not sure what rewilding really means. This exhibition, by Dorset photographer and nature conservationist Sam Rose, intends to ‘unwrap’ the concept, help people to find out more; and encourage them to get involved themselves.
This new exhibition of 20 of Sam’s images is currently on show in the Outpatient Gallery on Level 3 of the hospital. The photographs feature animals that are the ‘ecosystem engineers’ and make rewilding possible, the people who choose to rewild, and the landscapes that have benefited from a rewilding approach.
Photographer Sam said: “I hope that this exhibition will inspire people to find out a bit more about rewilding, what it means and why it is so important for us all. It is all about letting go and allowing nature to take the lead in restoring damaged ecosystems, and about the people who have the courage to do that. It is amazing and beautiful to see what happens when nature is allowed to thrive.”
Caroline Barnes, Yeovil Hospital’s Art and Design Coordinator, said: “We’re delighted to be displaying Sam’s exhibition, which not only helps people understand the natural world around them, but also contributes to a more calming environment for our staff, patients and visitors.”
The exhibition will be on show between April and July 2022 in the Outpatient Gallery on level 3 for patients, staff and visitors. You can also view the exhibit online here, or if you are interested in rewilding listen to Sam’s podcast “What if you just leave it?” here.
