The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing a service to both inpatients and outpatients at Yeovil District Hospital. Our dietitians provide dietetic advice in a range of specialist areas including; Nutritional support, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Diabetes, Paediatrics, Critical care, Oncology and Stroke care.

The team also consists of nutrition nurses that support patients with artificial tube feeding, helping to link the nutrition and nursing roles together. In addition the nutrition nurses manage the intravenous line service within the hospital.

An important area of our work is with education and training, to both healthcare professionals (many of which are open to community and nursing home staff) and patient groups – such as cardiac, stroke rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation and diabetes education programmes.
