At 11am, when the Westland’s sirens signalled, the Trust took a moment of silence in remembrance of those brave souls who fought so heroically throughout our history.
A small ceremony with social distancing took place outside the hospital, with an extended invite to those staff who previously served with the Military. Consultant Sonographer Steve Savage preformed a thought-provoking and heartfelt speech before leading us into the two minute silence.
Steve said: “I am honoured to have had the opportunity to thank our fallen heroes and colleagues for their outstanding courage and bravery. I am so proud to see our staff coming together to mark such an important occasion.”
A wreath was place on to our memorial garden, created by Trust Gardener Adrian Goldring and Art Co-ordinator Caroline Barnes, by the entrance of the hospital by Deputy Chief Nurse Mark Robinson.

Staff caring for patients throughout the hospital were encouraged to mark this important occasion within their departments if it was possible and safe to do so,. Art Co-ordinator Caroline also created a safe and private space for staff to write and share their feelings those we remember within our Chapel.
On Remembrance Sunday a wreath will be laid at the War Memorial in the town centre on behalf of Yeovil Hospital.
United in our thoughts, we will remember them.
