An exhibit of oil paintings is now on show at Yeovil Hospital’s outpatient gallery by the talented Eltain Bossert.
The new display shows dramatic seas, skies and fields evoking stormy winter weather as well as bright evening sunsets. You will recognise parts of the Dorset coast such as Freshwater and the distinctive cliffs at West Bay as well as more inland images of the Somerset levels.
Eltian immigrated to the UK from South Africa in 2000, leaving behind a much loved profession in the art world for an eventual career in the armed forces here in South Somerset. However, he never abandoned his interest in the visual arts by continuing to express his love for painting the land and sea in his spare time.
Yeovil Hospital’s Art Coordinator Caroline Barnes said: “The work is full of colour, texture and movement, with clear marks where the oil paint has been smoothed and carved using palette knives and brushes, showing the beautiful landscapes we are lucky to have. The exhibit is wonderfully vibrant and helps to brighten the experience of visiting the hospital.”
The exhibit will run until Monday 20 January 2020 and all of Eltian’s paintings are all available to bought, with 30 per cent of sales being donated to Yeovil Hospital Charity. This funding will enable us to improve the hospitals environment for patients.
The paintings on show are just a small part of Eltian’s collection, more of which will be on display at the Octagon Theatre Gallery in the summer of 2020 and you can also follow Eltains work on Instagram at Eltian Bossert Painting.
