Hospital Shop Trolley Volunteer

A trolley volunteer is responsible for checking of trolley stock, visiting wards to sell goods to patients on the ward and to reconcile the cash at the end of the shift. If you would like to find out more about this role, please email [email protected]

 

Ambulatory Emergency Care Volunteer 2pm - 6pm or 6pm - 10pm

An Ambulatory Emergency Care Volunteer will liaise with clinical staff regarding appropriate access to patients prior to any activity. They will offer patients refreshments (when restrictions are lifted), accompany patients to other areas of the hospital for investigations. They will deliver and collect to other hospital departments, assist with practical tasks such as making up linen trolleys, wiping down chairs etc. For more information and a copy of the job description, please click here.

Sleep Clinic Volunteer

Please note this role is only currently available on a Friday.

For this role, you will be photocopying items for staff, putting together information packs, unpacking deliveries, collecting items from reception for the sleep clinic and take things to Medical Electronics along with going to different departments.

 

Mealtime Companion

Volunteers may help to deliver meals and give mealtime assistance, as trained and leave the individual comfortable supporting them with their mealtime hygiene. Volunteers also document patient’s food and fluid intake as indicated on your training and report back to the relevant Nurse with mealtime details and any concerns.

 

Endoscopy Volunteer

This role involves assisting with general administration duties, including answering the phone to patients and delivering documents to different departments.

 

Patient Voice Volunteer

Patient Voice volunteers help to improve patient, staff and visitors experience of YDH. You will undertake surveys and collect feedback, attend monthly meetings to share the feedback with the Patient Experience team at YDH.

 

Visiting Companion

To offer support to patients and families who are isolated or lonely or towards the end of life, by offering companionship, support and comfort. Specific patients will be allocated by the Lead Chaplain for each visit.

 

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising volunteers help on an ad hoc basis at fundraising events such as fun runs, balls or other fundraising events. This can involve weekends and evenings.

All roles require you to complete a DBS check, Occupational Health Clearance and mandatory training. You will also receive 3 buddy sessions before you can begin your role.

 

Wellbeing Tea Trolley Volunteer

A wellbeing tea trolley volunteer will deliver tea, coffee and hot chocolate to the staff on the wards and in various departments.

 

A&E Coffee Pod volunteer

You will be volunteering in the A&E coffee pod, based in the A&E reception. Serving tea, coffee, soft drinks and a small amount of snacks.
