The Friends of Yeovil Hospital are appealing for volunteers to help run their A&E coffee shop, serving drinks and snacks to patients and visitors in the department’s waiting room.
The coffee shop is run solely by volunteers and is open between 9am to 8pm, Monday to Friday and 11pm – 8pm at weekends.
Volunteers will be given full training and will be responsible for handling cash.
Margaret Spurr, Chairman of the hospital shop said: “We have recently set up a coffee shop in our A&E department to provide patients and visitors with a place to get a snack and a drink whilst they are waiting. We are looking for some more volunteers to be able to help in the coffee shop and would welcome any applications.”
Matron for A&E, Fiona Higginson said: “The coffee shop is a valuable resource for our patients whilst they are waiting. We are very thankful to all of the wonderful volunteers who give up their time to provide this service.”
If you would be interested in volunteering in the coffee shop in A&E or in the hospital shop please drop in to the hospital shop for an application form and an informal chat with the shop manager about the role.
