Virginia Membrey has lived in Mendip for close on thirty years, and, over the years have had the benefit of Yeovil services as both patient and carer. Working as a social worker with Somerset Social Services has given Virginia an understanding of some of the issues here. She have also worked in hospitals, child protection, mental health and the criminal justice system. Virginia has spent many years working overseas, some of it in severe internal conflict areas. This, together with her later work in England, has widened her experience in trauma and its side effects, conflict resolution and change management.
Virginia was previously a Governor with Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and is currently a Mental Health Act Manager for both Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. Virginia was also Quaker chaplain in Shepton Mallet prison for thirteen years. Virginia would hope that these experiences will help me contribute to the needs of the Mendip community within my role as part of the Governor team.
